Roadmap

The Roadmap is where strategic work — initiatives, capabilities, strategic programs, and product ideas, collectively called plan items — gets placed on a real timeline instead of a bucketed wish list. It sits inside a Portfolio Plan, the saved working surface an organization plans and prioritizes in.

Portfolio Plans

A Portfolio Plan is a named, owned planning container with a scoring framework attached (see Goals & Scoring) and a plan window:

Plan items

A plan item is the roadmap-enabled unit of strategic work — typed as an Initiative, Capability, Strategic Program, or Product Idea — aligned to a primary goal and a portfolio, and given a roadmap horizon (Now / Next / Later / Future) before being broken down into execution (a demand, project, or epic).

The Roadmap Gantt

The Roadmap view renders every roadmap-enabled plan item as a horizontal bar across its planned start/end dates, on a year-over-quarter axis with zoom in/out/reset and a today marker. Each bar shows its budget beneath the title, a risk badge (Low/Moderate/High/Critical) when set, and an owner avatar. A left-hand sidebar groups items into a nested, collapsible tree (by primary goal, portfolio, or another grouping path). A Timeline / Kanban toggle switches the same data into an owner-grouped workload board — a different lens on the same items, not a separate list.

Milestones

A milestone is a date-stamped marker rendered either on a specific plan item’s row or, when no plan item is set, in the roadmap’s own milestone lane (scoped to a portfolio instead). Each carries a type — Kickoff, Release, Checkpoint, or Decision.

Dependencies

A dependency is a directed connector between two plan items, drawn as a curved line on the Gantt. Four dependency types are supported — Finish to Start, Start to Start, Finish to Finish, and Start to Finish — each with an optional lag in days.
